About kdhaney

About Me

Retired school teacher (37 years) and now writing a book review blog. I am also currently working on my first two books with one being a memoir and the other fiction. I enjoy reading, watching football and basketball, but most of all my family.

About My Family

I am married for almost 39 years to a very, VERY patient man. We have one grown son who now lives in Texas while we are still in Florida. He is married now for 6 years and in 2010 had his own son, our WONDERFUL grandson, whom we adore.

My Favorite Disney Parks Memory

With over 50 visits, as I lost track after a while, there are so many. wonderful and unique memories. My son's first trip when he was about 18 months old was special as well as our trips with him as he was growing up. Taking a couple of students who couldn't afford to go, with another teacher, several times on Saturdays to the Magic Kingdom before my son was born was special as they had never been and seeing Disney with them was so different and satisfying. However, I have to say my last trip with our grandson who was 18 months around Thanksgiving this year was my new favorite. Watching him experience all that is Disney and that I love so very much was a memory I will never forget. He loves all things Disney and is truly growing up as a Disney kid!

My Favorite Disney Parks Attraction

That is like asking someone about their favorite child. I think I can tell you my favorite at each park but if pushed, have to say it is Small World because I visited that as a college student with my mom, who is no longer with us, when we were out at Disneyland. on what was my first Disney visit. Later, we took my nephew to Disney World and again she so enjoyed Small World as did I showing him the park and the ride for his first visit. Needless to say, I felt her with us this last time as I took my grandchild through and he loved it. I do believe he can almost sing the song but does for sure know the tune now. He could have ridden several times as there was so much for him to see and called out all the things he knew. (He was especially keen about the elephant above our heads as our boat sailed under it into the next section).

My Favorite Disney Parks Resort Hotel

I have stayed at them all but do believe it has to be the Contemporary Resort Hotel. Although my husband and I surely loved being pampered on a trip on our own at the Grand Floridian, the Contemporary is my favorite due to the many memories and how many times we stayed there with our son as he was growing up. It was always a tradition to hurry back from the parks to see the lighted water parade each night as well as waiting for the monorail to zoom into the hotel so we could get a seat in the first part with the driver.
